Java Jazz Fest/Indonesia
It is now 3.30AM. I'm very tired and sleepy, but very blessed and happy to have been a part of the 2005 Java Jazz festival in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was a well organised festival, there were artists from all parts of the world. I performed tonight to a packed house of screaming fans with the Al McKay all stars.
Eumir Deodato opened the evening with his hits followed by us and then Incognito.
Incognito closed the night with their hit "Still a friend of mine". What a beautiful way to end the evening. The band sounded amazing and Bluey had the whole audience chanting! Incognito is one of my favorite bands and to see them live was just a treat. I was proud to see and hear a fellow Sri Lankan singing on stage with Incognito. Her name is Imani she sounded great and is a very sweet person too.
I met up with a lot of friends that live in Los Angeles, but who I very seldom get to see in the city! The musical highlight for me was seeing James Brown's band performing yesterday. They sounded very tight and followed their Boss's every move like hawks awaiting their prey! The musicians in james's band were some of the nicest people that you would ever meet. Two bass players and two drummers playing together so tastefully!
I am looking forward to going home, but sad to leave Indonesia so quickly. The Indonesian people are very kind, warm and friendly and the food here is amazing! I wish I was staying here for another day or two. Hope to be back soon.
